How to View and Update a Learner's Open Response Score

The Open Response Score is a measure of Learner effort and answer relevance for Essay and Short Answer questions in courses. In Insight, you can now view a Learner's Open Response Score on the Course Engagement and Course Enrollments screens. To learn how the Open Response Score is calculated, see this article.

Courses may not have percentage Open Response Score values in the following scenarios:
  1. No open response score - there are no required Essay or Short Answer questions in this course
  2. Score pending - the course is not yet complete so an overall Open Response Score has not been generated
An Open Response Score column is present or can be added to any table where you review Learner course progress. To add the open response score to a table where it isn’t displayed by default, simply select the “Columns” button and toggle “Open Response Score” on.

An Open Response Score column is present wherever you review Learner course progress.
Strategic and Executive Insight users can also update a Learner's Open Response Score by editing the score at the question level. To do so, click the action menu (three dot button) in the Course engagement table and select View Answers. From there, you can review Learner answers and click the pencil icon to update an answer's score. An audit trail entry will be created for each answer score edited in Insight.
Click the pencil icon on the "View answers" screen to update a Learner's score for a given question.
