(FOR CONTENT PROVIDERS) Image Upload Guidelines for Edovo Content
Image Size Requirements
Recommended maximum: 2 MB per image
Images larger than 2 MB may experience significantly slower loading times on facility networks and tablets, which can negatively impact the learner experience.
Why Image Size Matters
Correctional facilities often have bandwidth limitations and network restrictions. Smaller image files mean:
- Faster loading times for learners
- Better experience on facility tablets
- Reduced frustration from slow or failed downloads
Recommended Image Specifications
Dimensions:
- Maximum width: 1920 pixels (most facility tablets are 1920x1080 or smaller)
- Full-screen images: 1920 x 1080 pixels
- Graphics and diagrams: 1280 x 720 to 1920 x 1080 pixels
File formats:
- JPEG for photographs (use 80-85% quality setting)
- PNG for diagrams, charts, or images with text
How to Optimize Your Images
Before uploading:
Resize large images using free tools like:
- Windows: Photos app (resize option)
- Mac: Preview (Tools > Adjust Size)
- Online: TinyPNG.com or Squoosh.app
Compress without losing quality:
- Most image editors have a "Save for Web" or "Export" option
- Set JPEG quality to 80-85%
- Remove metadata/EXIF data
Check your file size:
- Right-click the file > Properties (Windows) or Get Info (Mac)
- If over 2 MB, compress further or reduce dimensions
Quick tip: If your image is significantly over 2 MB, try reducing dimensions first, then adjusting compression quality.
