Why can’t Edovo just link to my website?

Why can’t Edovo just link to my website?

Because access, safety, and equity come first

We get this question a lot—and it makes sense! You’ve already built your content, and it’s all in one place online. But correctional settings come with unique constraints. Here's why Edovo can’t link out to your website—and how we work with you to bring your content inside safely and effectively.

Notes

Your cheat sheet for this article

  1. No external links: Edovo tablets operate without access to the external for safety and equity. All content must be hosted directly on our secure platform.

  2. Decide what to upload: Not sure what format fits best? Check out our article on Choosing the Right Format: Active vs. Passive Learning to decide whether your content works best as a course, interactive resource, or stand-alone item.

  3. Bring your content inside: Instead of linking out, submit your materials using the upload process for active content or passive content.

Why linking isn’t allowed

Incarcerated learners using Edovo access content on secure tablets that do not connect to the open internet. This isn’t just a preference—it’s a requirement of every correctional facility we serve.

Allowing open links would:

  • Violate security policies: Correctional facilities must strictly control what content learners can access to protect safety and security.

  • Risk inconsistent access: Even if one facility allowed external links, another may not. Our goal is equity—every learner should have the same high-quality experience, regardless of location.

  • Compromise the user experience: Most websites are not optimized for tablets found within correctional facilities, making it difficult to navigate, load, or interact with content reliably.

So what does Edovo do instead?

We help you digitize, adapt, or reformat your content into Edovo-compatible formats that maintain:

  • Your branding and ownership

  • Your voice and messaging

  • Your goals and learning outcomes

Just because we can’t link out doesn’t mean your work goes unseen. Every piece of content you submit is still yours—and we make sure your name and voice shine through.

You retain full creative freedom to design your materials using the Edovo Editor, where you can structure interactive courses that reflect your expertise, tone, and teaching style.

Your materials can also include:

  • Your name or organization listed as the author

  • Custom cover images or logos to match your brand

  • Introductory bios or mission statements to tell your story

  • Contact information or referral language, where appropriate

Your voice. Your brand. Your impact—now reaching learners where it matters most (even without a hyperlink).

Ready to bring your content inside?

We’re here to help you translate your online materials into a format that works for learners—securely, accessibly, and with impact. If you’ve got a site full of resources and you’re not sure where to start, check out the “What is an item” article on how Edovo defines, counts, and prices each piece of content you upload
