Overview
This guide explains how to review a learner's engagement with content using the "Course Engagement" and "Other Engagement" screens in Edovo Insight. These tools allow facility staff to track learner progress, analyze engagement data, and access detailed course performance metrics.
How to Access Learner Engagement Data in Insight
1. Once logged in and on the Insight dashboard, navigate to Learners.
2. Select the learner whose engagement you want to review.
3. Click on Coursework to access the Course Engagement Screen. (Image below)
Understanding the Course Engagement Screen
The Course Engagement Screen provides a table with key details about the courses a learner has worked in, including:
- Content Title: The title of the course.
- Status: Indicates if the course is In Progress, Completed - Passed or Needs Improvement.
- Status Bar: Displays progress through the course, color-coded to show whether the learner is on track (green) or may need to retake lessons (orange).
- Total Time Spent: The cumulative time spent on the course, including post-completion review time.
Expanding Course Details
Click the down arrow at the end of a row to view:
- Detailed breakdown of how the learner has met each pass requirement.
- View Full Syllabus: Opens the course directory page.
Adding Additional Data Columns
For more detailed engagement insights, you can include extra columns:
Time to Pass: Time spent to pass the course (excludes post-completion review time).
- Started: Date the course was completed with a passing score.
- Completed: Date the course was completed with a passing score.
- Last Activity: Time elapsed since the learner last worked on the course.
- Quiz Score: Learner's quiz performance.
- Open Response Score: Score for open-ended responses.
How to Customize Columns
- Click the Columns button.
- Toggle the visibility of specific columns.
- Export data to a CSV of PDF file (only visible columns are included).
Reviewing Additional Engagement Data
Since learning resources (not full courses) do not track progress and scores, engagement with these types of materials are viewed on a different screen, the Engagement audit screen. This screen shows engagement in BOTH courses and resources. Access this screen via the link on the left-side menu.
Sorting and Filtering Data
To analyze engagement data:
- Sorting: By default, courses with the most recent activity appear at the top. Click on any column header to change the sorting order.
- Filtering: To isolate specific data points:
- Click the Filters button.
- Set Columns to "Status."
- Choose "Complete - Passed" under Value(s).
- Apply additional filters as needed.
For additional options, click More (icon with three dots) next to a course:

Send Learner Feedback: Provide support, feedback, or encouragement directly to the learner via a notification.
View Answers: See a learner's responses for each lesson in the course.
View Enrollments: Compare progress among all learners who have taken the course.
