Incarcerated individuals often move between facilities. What that happens, you might ask: What happens to their Edovo learning?
The answer depends on what you're looking at:
- an individuals learner, or
- facility-level reporting (courses, time, and completions)
This article explains the difference.
Individuals Learner Engagement in Edovo Insight
When you look up an individuals learner in Insight, all of their learning activity is shown together, regardless of where it happened.
Example:
- John Doe completes 40 hours of learning on Edovo while at Facility A
- John later transfers to Facility B and completes 60 more hours of learning
When you log into Edovo Insight at Facility B (where John is currently) to view John's profile, you will see 100 total hours of learning. All activity appears under John's current facility (Facility B).
This view is designed to give staff a complete picture of a learner's engagement, without splitting their history across facilities. Individuals learner views always reflect the learner's current facility, not where each activity originally occurred.
Facility-Level Reporting (Aggregate Data)
Facility-level reports answer different questions, such as:
- How much learning happened at this facility?
- How many courses were started here during a specific time period?
- How many courses were completed?
For these reports, Edovo attributes activity to the facility where it actually happened.
How Time Spent is Attributed
Time spent is credited to the facility where the learner was when that time was spent. Using the earlier example:
- Facility A would be credited with 40 hours
- Facility B would be credited with 60 hours
This keeps facility-level time totals accurate and stable over time.
How Course Starts and Completions are Attributed
Course starts are credited to the facility where the learner was when they started the course.
Course completions are credited to the facility where the learners started the course, even if they completed it after transferring to another facility.
Example:
- John starts the course Parenting While Incarcerated while housed in Facility A
- John is later transferred to Facility B and completes the course there
When you look at the Analytics page in Edovo Insight, that completion will appear under Facility A, because that is where the course was started. It will not be counted as a completion for Facility B.
