(CORRECTIONAL STAFF) Learner Goals (Beta)

Learner Goals lets learners work toward something that matters to them, like building their recovery or preparing to find a job. Each goal is flexible and self-paced: there's no required order to follow, and learners can take on more than one at a time. Tablet time isn't always predictable, so they can step away and return whenever it allows, without losing any progress.

Each goal breaks down into milestones, and each one carries hand-picked content that helps learners build the skills a goal calls for. Along the way, learners pick up two concrete markers of progress: certificates from courses that award them, and a running record of the time they've invested.

Four goals, and counting

Learner Goals grows around what learners actually ask for. At the end of the goals list, learners can tell us what they'd like to see next, and that feedback shapes which goals and content we build first.

  • Prepare to Start My Own Business: Learners build a business plan, legal structure, budget, and marketing strategy, including guidance for starting a business with a record.
  • Rising Strong: Build Your Recovery: A recovery goal building self-awareness, coping skills, and relapse prevention at a self-paced pace.
  • Train for a Stronger Me: A 12-week bodyweight fitness program building strength, mobility, and self-discipline.
  • Prepare to Find a Job: Builds job-readiness with resume writing, interview prep, and strategies for disclosing a record to employers.

Each goal complements, rather than replaces, your facility's existing programming.

How learners find and start a goal

Getting started takes seconds. Goals live in three places on Edovo:

  • The goals carousel on My Edovo, just under "Recently started"
  • The All Goals page
  • A Goals tab in the content library

To start a goal:

  1. Tap a goal tile to open the goal page.

  2. Tap Start learning.

  3. The goal status updates to "Actively pursuing," and the learner is underway.

How learners pause or complete a goal

Both actions take one tap, from the status dropdown at the top of the goal page. Learners decide for themselves when they're ready to complete a goal or take a break, and neither carries any penalty.

To mark a goal complete:

  1. Open the status dropdown and select Mark as complete.
  2. The learner picks a reason and can add more detail before submitting.
  3. They land on a short celebration page, then tap Continue to head back to the goal page.

Even after marking a goal complete, learners can always dive back in and keep working on it whenever they'd like.

To take a break from a goal:

  1. Open the status dropdown and select Take a break.
  2. The learner picks a reason and can elaborate before submitting.
  3. They land on a confirmation page with a button back to the goal.

Whenever they're ready, they can come back and pick up where they left off.

NotesLearner Goals is in Beta and rolling out to every facility by the end of August.
