Learner Transcript Changes
In March and April of this year, Edovo released significant improvements to how content is categorized and labeled in the Edovo platform.
These changes included:
- Ensuring that content better reflected their intended purpose (e.g. a facility memo or supplemental learning materials are now considered resources instead of courses)
- Insight now reflects Learner engagement with all content as opposed to just content considered courses
- Improved content directory displays all content as opposed to just content considered courses
- Transcripts better reflect positive engagement instead of passive engagement
For more information on these important changes, check out those previous release notes
here.
These changes were a critical first step to an overhaul to the Edovo Certificates and Transcripts. The ability for Learners to earn and achieve Certificates and Transcripts is a critical component of our application and it is important that they accurately reflect a Learner's engagement in the platform for use in courts, to show off to family and friends, and bring to the parole board.
Over the next month of so, we will be releasing a number of changes to the Transcripts during the first phase of this project.
On April 26, 2023 we released the following change:
Transcripts will now show two hours spent categories: 1. Completed Course Hours and 2. Hours in Education. Completed Course Hours will show the time spent in courses the Learner has completed. Hours in Education will show time spent in supplemental learning which includes in progress Courses and significant time spent in Resources (at this time, it will not include time spent in standalone learning videos, books, or other media). We know that it is important to Learners to ensure their time spent on Edovo is reflected in their Transcript. The Hours in Education will be a value similar to what the Learner saw prior to the content reclassification work.
During the next few months, we will be working on the following additions to Transcripts:
- Highlighting engagement with supplemental learning (as sampled below)
- Providing digestible content descriptions that better highlight the course for the use of Transcripts (and don't get cut off!)
- Overall visual refresh
- Time spent on the noted courses or supplemental learning
- Adding the total number resources completed
As a quick teaser, the below images are sample mock ups of Edovo's long term vision of the Transcripts:
